Dr. (Hon.) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc.

Dr. (Hon.) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc. is a graduate from the University of Tasmania, Australia, and was awarded an Honorary Doctor from Ouachita Baptist University. He has an extensive experience in business and government services. He was the President, CEO, and Chairman of Indosat. Dr. Parapak served as a Secretary General of the Department of Tourism, Post, Telecommunication; a member of the National Council of Research. Joining UPH in 2001, he was then appointed as the President and Rector of UPH in 2006.
Prof. Dr. Adrianus Mooy, M.Sc
Senior Advisor
Prof. Mooy obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin (USA), and M.Sc. in Economics (Money and Banking) from the same University. He received his B.Sc. in Economics from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta (Indonesia). He has an extensive experience in many different areas including education as Lecturer mostly at the Universitas Indonesia, Jakarta, where he obtained his full professorship in economics. He was also a member of People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and a member of Government Committees responsible for the drafting of the Guidelines of State Policy (GBHN). He helped the Government in several capacities: as Deputy Chairman of National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) responsible for the formulation of a Five Years Development Plans (REPELITA) particularly on macro-economic planning as well as fiscal, monetary, and balance of payments planning. He also served as Governor of Bank Indonesia (the Central Bank of Indonesia) and as Indonesian Ambassador to the European Union based in Brussels, Belgium. On the international front, he served the United Nations as Under-Secretary-General / Executive Secretary of UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) based in Bangkok, Thailand. Prof. Mooy joined UPH in 2007 as Senior Advisor until today. He was also the Rector of UPH Surabaya until 2018.
Ir. Budhi T. Yuwono, M.M., M.Pd.

He received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Trisakti University, Master of Management degree from Universitas Indonesia, and Master of Education degree from Universitas Pelita Harapan. He has been working with Yayasan Pendidikan Pelita Harapan (YPPH) since 1993 for school development, especially in remote areas. He is also working for UPH in the area of networking and scholarship. Before joining YPPH, he worked for IBM for 8 years in several position in marketing.
Christine L. Sommers, Ph.D, RN, CNE
VP 1 - Chief Academic Officer (Provost)
Christine Sommers joined UPH in August 2012 as a lecturer at the Faculty of Nursing. She earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from Cedarville University in 1989, her master's degree in nursing from the University of Washington in 1992, and her postmaster certificate in Nursing Education from Washington State University in 2010. She completed her Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Kansas in 2019. While completing her doctorate, she researched the best teaching practices for teaching culturally diverse nursing students. She has over 25 years of experience as an intensive care nurse and nurse educator. She is certified as a nurse educator and is a CCRN Emeritus. She enjoys the opportunity to provide seminars to nurses and other healthcare providers in several countries and throughout Indonesia. She is committed to serving Christ through excellence in teaching and guiding others. She has a desire to make a difference wherever God puts her to serve Him.

Dr. Curtis Jay Taylor, Ph. D.

In 2015, after visiting UPH ten times over a period of 5 years, Dr. Curtis Jay. Taylor moved to Indonesia with his family in order to join the International Teachers College at Universitas Pelita Harapan as a teacher and the Director of Admissions. In this capacity he has the privilege of recruiting qualified Christian students from around the world for the primary and secondary English education programs that the ITC offers. Prior to coming to Indonesia, Dr. Taylor served Dordt College in Iowa (USA) for 23 years in various administrative roles, including Dean for Global Education, Special Assistant to the President, Vice President for Student Services, and Director of Residence Life. Over the course of his career in higher education. Dr. Taylor has also held administrative roles at Iowa State University (USA), the University of Washington (USA) and Michigan State University (USA) and has served in leadership positions on numerous national boards related to higher education. Dr. Taylor has had the honor of speaking to groups in over 30 countries in North America and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia on topics related to Christian education, US higher education, leadership, and strategic planning. He has served as president of the Sioux Center Chamber of Commerce, as vice president of the Sioux Center Christian School Board, and as a member of the Board of Directors of St. Luke’s College in Sioux City. Dr. Taylor earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Calvin College (USA), a master's degree in college and university administration from Michigan State University (USA), and a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy studies from Iowa State University (USA).
Danny Lee Lian Fey, BBA, MA

Danny Lee Lian Fey completed his first degree (Bachelor of Business Administration) at the University of Oklahoma, Norman and his postgraduate degree (MA in Marketing) at Northumbria University, Newcastle. He is currently pursuing his PhD research studies in Customer Relationship Management. After his first five-year career in advertising and promotion, Danny decided for a change and joined the private education industry in Malaysia. He has worked in various education organizations including INTI International University, Australian International School Malaysia, Rafflesia Education Group, SEGi University & Colleges, and City University Malaysia. He has 27 years of experience in marketing and in education (tertiary and K-12 school), with hands-on experience in strategic development as well as in operations.
Firman Rusli, MEng, PMP, CPC

Firman Rusli graduated from his bachelor’s degree of Manufacturing and Engineering Management with Honor and continued his master’s degree in Information Technology at the reputable university of RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology).
Immediately after graduation, he worked for 3 years in Australia before finally decided to come back to Indonesia and had served in a leadership and strategic roles with a couple of consulting firms, such as Jatis Solutions, NTT Group, Microsoft, and Lippo Education Group.
His extensive experience for more than 20 years come from leading operations for Technology, Business Development, and Applications/Infrastructures Development within a wide range of industries with full P&L responsibility, combining in-depth technical knowledge with refined business acumen and management skills.
Yonky Saputra Sim, B.Sc., M.B.A.

Yonky Saputra Sim pursued his Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Business Administration at California State University, Long Beach. Yonky has 20 years of experiences in Finance across several different industries, ranging from family businesses, public or multi-national companies, both in USA and Indonesia. Prior to joining YUPH, he was the Director of Finance at PT. Madusari Murni Indah Tbk.
Arifin Fu, SE, MM, MBA, CBV, CMA, CSMA
Executive Director of UPH Medan Campus
Arifin Fu joined Lippo Education Initiative in year 2014 to participate and lead the business development initiatives where he was assigned and involved in the set-up of a private university with modern and holistic education concept in Medan, which is UPH Medan. Prior to that, he served at Wilmar Business Indonesia as Faculty, at Information Technology and Business Campus as Vice Chairman, Chair of Accounting and Taxation Study Program. He also had ever served at UK-Oxford Centre for Leadership Program in Indonesia. He received his bachelor’s degree of Economics (majoring in Accounting) from the University of Methodist Indonesia and completed his Master of Business Administration from Federation University, Australia. He is a Certified Business Valuer and Certified Management Accountant from ICMA, Australia. He is also registered as Fellow of Academy of Finance and Management Australia. He is given privilege to serve as the Head of PPL Department and Competency Test at Indonesian Public Tax Consultants Association Medan for the period of 2016 - 2021. He also has authored several textbooks about Indonesian Taxation System, and Entrepreneurship. Arifin Fu has spent more than 10 years in the education industry and he has obtained his Professional Lecturer Certification from the Minister of Education in Indonesia. He is also an Infopreneur in Education.

Yenny has dedicated her teaching experiences to serve in Universitas Pelita Harapan, Medan Campus which is the leading University in holistic education since 2014. Through the caring of importance in sharing knowledge and years experienced from several accounting, finance and education background, she realized it is important for younger generation to have qualified education. Her Bachelor Degree in Accounting and Finance was from University of East London, UK , Bachelor Degree in Accounting from STIE Adhy Niaga , Jakarta, Master Degree of Financial Management from IMNI, Jakarta, and Master in Business Administation from Federation Universisty, Australia. Before devoting her work fulltime to Universitas Pelita Harapan, she had ever served as Student Service and Academic Officer at Thames Business School Singapore, Accounting and Finance Supervisor at PT Internusa Tribuana Citra Multifinance in Medan and Jakarta, Accounting and Finance Supervisor of consumer goods distributor at CV. Samudera Jaya in Jakarta, Head of Secretary and Hospitality Management Study Program in IT&B Campus in Medan, Part time lecturer at STIE Professional Manajemen College Indonesia in Medan, Fulltime lecturer in Wilmar Business Indonesia in Medan, IGCSE and Edexcel Tutor at SYNERGi International Training and Consultancy in Medan, and currently is also the Commisioner of Driving Training Center CV. Alfonsius joined Universitas Pelita Harapan Medan Campus in 2019. Prior to that, he served at STIE Professional Manajemen College Indonesia as a Lecturer and also Vice Chairman I. He also had ever served as a Lecturer in the Postgraduate Program at Universitas HKBP Nommensen Medan. He obtained a Bachelor degree in Economics majoring in Management Study Program. Then he continued the Masters Program in the Management Science Study Program at the Postgraduate School of the University of Sumatera Utara. He took his Doctoral education in the Regional Planning Doctoral Program at the Postgraduate School of the University of Sumatera Utara. Alfonsius has spent more than 10 years in the education industry and he has obtained his Professional Lecturer Certification from the Minister of Education in Indonesia.
Prof. Dr. Alum Simbolon, SH, M. Hum.
Chair of Law Study Program
Alum Simbolon, became a part of Universitas Pelita Harapan Medan Campus in 2015 to participate in building Law Study Program of Law Faculty as Dean and concurrently as the Head of Law Study Program. Starting to revamp Law Faculty, creating Faculty Renstra and Study Program Renstra, as well as Faculty Renop and Study Program Renop. Recruiting 6 lecturers for the Faculty of Law to complete all requirements. Previously serving at Universitas Katolik Santo Thomas and also as a legal officer of a company in Jakarta. Acquired Bachelor Degree at Universitas Katolik Santo Thomas in 1991, pursued Master education at Universitas Sumatera Utara in 1998, and earned Doctoral Degree at Universitas Gajah Mada, Yogyakarta in 2011. In 2011, she received lecturer certificate sooner after completing her Doctoral education. Lastly, obtained the highest position in university as Professor as of June 1, 2020. Alum has had many international journal works and the first book edition is Himpunan Peraturan Perundang-Undangan Hukum Persaingan Usaha in 2012. Hukum Persaingan Usaha book in 2014 as the first edition and Hukum Persaingan Usaha in 2018 as the second edition. Three of the books were printed by Liberty Publisher in Yogyakarta. Hukum Persaingan Usaha book has obtained a copyright certificate. Alum has more than 28 years of experience in universities.
Okky Putra Barus, S.Kom., M.M., M.T.I.
Chair of Information System
Okky Barus is an IT practitioner who has more than 10 years of experience in accelerating company performances through the implementation of technology. He is equipped with multidisciplinary knowledge and earned two Master’s degrees, Master in Management from Universitas Sumatera Utara and Master of Information Technology from Bina Nusantara University. He believes that “learning is never done” as he continues to improve himself and has obtained various international certifications: Certified in IT Service Management from Quint Wellington Redwood (USA), Certified International Project Management Professional from PASAS Institute (Singapore), Digital Marketing Certified, and Adobe Certified. Currently, Okky serves as the Department Chair of the Information System and Informatics programs at UPH. He is also involved in teaching, conducting government-funded researches, and writing books. He is extremely passionate in developing the younger generation. Together with students, he initiates several movements, guides students to collaborate with the industry, and encourages them to achieve various achievements in both the academic and non-academic fields. Giving back to the community has always had a place in Okky’s heart. He is a public speaker, mentor, and judge in various events held by Google, Gojek, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo), the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), and many others. He designed an HRIS mobile application which has been implemented in corporations and he has also obtained intellectual property rights to it. One of his recent achievements is winning Indonesia Teacher Prize 2020 presented by Ruangguru.
